This Gallery Weekend, let Sleek be your guide. In collaboration with 38Hours, we are excited to release our Gallery Weekend Berlin Guide, available for download through the App Store. In addition to restaurant recommendations and a responsive map of Berlin’s premiere galleries, the app also features exclusive interviews with Berlin-based artists and gallerists. Next up is Javier Perés discussing Peres Projects: founded in 2002, his contemporary art gallery emphasises contemporary American painters.
Why did you choose Mark Flood to be artist shown during Gallery Weekend?
Mark Flood has been developing works using the coded language corporate logos since our last show with Mark during Art Berlin Contemporary in September, 2013. Gallery Weekend is the perfect time to stage a major exhibition which explores the development of this body of work over the last two years.
How do you think Gallery Weekend has changed since its inception?
Berlin galleries continue to present ambitious shows of international artists at a very high level and consequently, more and more international visitors have come to see Berlin Gallery Weekend as a can’t miss event. This has lead to a larger and more international audience than ever.
How does having a larger space away from the main gallery district affect your shows and curation?
This is actually our third space in Berlin, the first being much larger and the second being much smaller. It is important for us to offer artists an exciting space to present their work and we are very happy in our current home.
Is there anything that you can’t miss during the Gallery Weekend?
Which bar or restaurant can you recommend?
Grill Royal is a classic and never misses.
“Astroturf Yelp Review Says Yes” by Mark Flood will open on Friday 1 May, from 5 PM until 9 PM at Peres Projects.
