Road Trip: Teun Koemans Cruises the Streets of Amsterdam

The model and photographer behind Koeningvhbos takes a trip around 'dam in a Volkswagen Arteon

From Hugh Jackman to Jennifer Lawrence, Shaggy to Scooby-Doo, everyone loves a Volkswagen. Known across the globe for its humble design and efficiency, Volkswagen isn’t called “the people’s car” for nothing. In honour of its recent triumphs — from the new T1 to the Tiguan — Volkswagen invited nine influencers on a road trip across Europe, and we’re here to document their travels.

Teun Koemans is a city boy at heart: when he’s not jet setting from shoot to shoot across the world, the Dutch model and photographer, who shares the spoils of his travels as Köningvhbos, calls the canals of Amsterdam his home. He’s known for his taste for fast sports cars and sleek custom bikes just as much for his travels around the globe from Indonesia to Italy and back again, so Volkswagen set the hunky heartthrob with a Volkswagen Arteon in glossy black for a cruise through the suburbs of Amsterdam.

What Koemans found was a plethora of seasonal treats—beauty a plenty, as Holland’s appeal extends far past the luscious tulips fields and rustic windmills most often associated with its sprawling pastoral grace. Indeed, there is a quiet and peaceful glory to be discovered past the city’s limits, and Koemans found himself amongst age-old evergreens, blowing past snow banks and icy, tree-lined lanes to find new, cozy pockets of his home country on the road. The winter bloomed slowly over Holland, but brooding clouds overhead never stopped Koemans from seaking new sights—he commandeered the striking Arteon from village to forest to village again with his camera in hand.
