The world needs more artists like Agnieszka Polska. Last year’s Preis der Nationalgalerie winner, the Polish artist (based between Berlin and Kraków) has rapidly earned acclaim owing to her distinctive and dynamic video works. Her work is as affectionate and reassuring as it is political, and as delightfully novel as it is important (take her child-like Little Sun, who jokes with the audience one minute, and warns us of the grave consequences of climate change the next, as a prime example.) Working with found footage, archive photography and illustration, Polska puts her own unique spin on the world through de- and re-contextualisation, and a lyrical potency that’s impossible to deny.
We’re thrilled to present Agnieszka Polska’s contribution to our Cabinet for SLEEK 56 — a visually-stimulating amalgamation of poetry and digital renderings to feast your eyes on.
