Alexis Mabille: Quelque Chose de Couture

French haute couture tyro Alexis Mabille was at the Mercedes-Benz Fahsion Week Berlin last night for an event entitled “Fashion Tête-à-Tête” – the launch of the new, limited-edition bottle he designed for the famous French liqueur brand, Cointreau. The weather was hot that evening and so was the fashion, as a select coterie of VIPs and guests wafted around Mabille’s installation at the Radialsystem on the banks of the spree (whose waters even looked quite inviting, given the roasting weather). Guests supped Cointreau cocktails as the dapper, diminutive Mabille, whose impressive CV counts design stints at Nina Ricci, Ungaro and Christian Dior, buzzed around the location in the glare of TV camera lights, looking terrifically neat and natty as, it often seems, only French men can.

No doubt this rather swish event took a lot preparation – in fact, Sleek was there to help, as the services of the magazine’s Fashion Editor Lorena Maza were called up to help Monsieur Mabille mount his impressive designs onto the mannequins, while our very own Belaid le Mharchi was also on hand to photograph the proceedings in.

Fashion can be thirsty work, but luckily there was plenty to drink. It was a scorcher in more ways than one.
