Trade fair Bread & Butter celebrated their opening last night with a concert by the Swedish garage band Mando Diao. The Columbiadamm concert hall was packed with giddy, sweaty, gleeful fans. After the band graciously congratulated the blockbuster tradeshow on a successful homecoming after four years in Barcelona, the event became indistinguishable from any other rock concert. Some B&B participants sported their wares but most were too absorbed by the concert energy to care about fashion. It was a welcome break for most. „I’m too busy having fun,“ announced the girlfriend of a jewellery designer showing his wood bracelets at the fair. „I am just wearing them and enjoying myself.“ That spirit of casual cool is the real bread and butter for the street style labels presenting their products for the next three days.
