Reality Studio Gets Real!

The Berlin Fashion Week is famous for its off-site shows and alternative presentations. Independent local labels are always good for a surprise when it comes to showing their new collections and this season, Svenja Specht of Reality Studio really pushed the envelope. Instead of the ole’ catwalk, she sent her models on a traveling fashion show on bikes. And come to think of it, what could be more suitable for the city of Berlin, where bikes are the most important means of transporation? What’s more, it’s not enough to see that the clothes look good on the catwalk or on a hanger – we need to know if they look good when we ride our bikes in them! And look good they did. The collection was mainly in earthy colors with loose fitting overalls and round cuts. Tiny red button details on pants and overalls caught our attention and gave the pretty and feminine collection a slighly boyish flair. The bike tour started at Bebelplatz, the main location of the Mercedes-Benz fashion week, and continued through Mitte. Starting at Bebelplatz next to the tent was a risky gamble on Svenja Specht’s side, and trouble soon followed as the designer was asked to get off the premises with her biker girls. Specht stayed cool and had the girls pose for a few more minutes before they took off to continure their tour.
