The Claire Barrow gang

CLAIRE-BARROWDesigner and illustrator Claire Barrow and matchesfashion.com launched a limited-edition collection earlier this week, centered on the theme of girl gangs. Staying true to her rocker style and DIY aesthetics, Barrow has hand-painted leather biker jackets and clutches with images of three fictive street smart crews named after the elements: Ember for fire, Jewel Lake Ritual for water, and Earth’s Angel for earth and air. The 23-year-old designer, who will present with Fashion East for the third time during the upcoming London fashion week, has attracted more than just a few high-profile fans since she launched her eponymous label. As for her inspiration for this capsule collection, she cites the following disparate sources: “The Surrealists of Paris, Asgarda girls of Ukraine, Maasai women of Kenya, The Cockettes of San Francisco, The Savage Skulls and The Savage Nomads of New York, and The Pink Ladies.” somehow, it all matches.
