Last week SLEEK hosted a panel talk with Königliche Porzellan Manufaktor Berlin to present their Royal Master Edition, a collection of NTF interpretations of their traditional artwork. Smoothly transitioned from royal ownership to commercial success, the porcelain manufactuer has persisted through the centuries of Berlin’s history as a site of experimentation and technical mastery in the fine arts. Riding on technological advancements and attracting elite creative direction, KPM pioneered designs from the Rococo age to Bauhaus and New Objectivity. As this year marks KPM’s 260th anniversary, the Maison celebrates by translating tradition into modernity. Now they are embarking on a new technological field: Artificial Intelligence, NFT’s and the digilization of some of their finest works.
Guests were invited to the KPM Pavaillion in Kurfürstendamm to attend the release of KPM’s Royal Master Edition— five different vases, each with NFT counterparts that were AI-generated in collaboration with the manufacturer’s artists. The evening was fueled by vibrant energy with a selection of drinks provided by ODE Aperitif, a Berlin-based liquor company that specializes in fruity aperitifs and seeks to bring back natural tastes in place of chemical mixtures. For the event, they selected the ODE Lemon Spritz and ODE Lemon Tonic, enjoyed by guests as they mingled and browsed the artwork.

The porcelain works, alongside their 260 NFT counterparts, are each meant to evoke the spirit and symbology of a different era: Rococo, Classicism, Historicism, and New Objectivity. From a celebration of Rococo naturalism to bolder Classicism to the geometric abstractions of New Objectivity, the displayed NFT artworks expand the atmosphere and presence of each physical object. The unique pieces were also inspired by archive products from KPM and the formal language of white porcelain itself throughout history.
The event was moderated by SLEEK’s publisher Christian Bracht and informed by two panel speakers from KPM, Jörg Woltmann and Jenja Carow, who introduced the concept collection before displays of the both physical and digital works. Guests were invited to explore the installation in the company of artists and the project’s creative directors. Alongside ODE, which itself promises a return to natural and familiar tastes via an innovative production process, the artwork impresses AI’s ability to encapsulate and reimagine works of historical and cultural significance.
