SLEEK Art Space Welcomes Jenni Hiltunen

This year marks a new chapter for the SLEEK universe. Nestled in Alexanderplatz, our newly opened SLEEK Art Space—a white cube with panoramic views of the city—has become a hub for showcasing works by some of the most influential artists of our time.

Yesterday, we welcomed Finnish artist Jenni Hiltunen and her compelling oeuvre into our space. Hiltunen’s paintings delve into the constructed realities of feminism, capitalism, and the performative nature of femininity. “I am fascinated by visualizing power structures tied to capitalism and gender,” she explains. “Like Cindy Sherman, I see identity as a cultural construct—a fluid, ever-changing structure. Advertising and cinema reinforce this construct, prescribing what identity should look like to be socially accepted and culturally appropriate.”

Drawing inspiration from international fashion blogs and advertising, Hiltunen stands at the forefront of a new generation of the Pictures Generation. Her bold brushstrokes and intense use of color capture the frenetic energy of contemporary life. While her work reflects modernity’s pace and pressures, it also celebrates the sheer joy of painting. Exaggeration in her art exists without the weight of moral judgment.

Last evening, an excerpt of Hiltunen’s body of work set the tone for an unforgettable celebration. Surrounded by her evocative paintings, guests exchanged laughter and engaged in lively conversation, all while savoring glasses of Wagner sparkling wine. Sourced from Germany’s highest sparkling wine cellar and crafted from the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, the Heinz Wagner Sektmanufaktur sparkling beverages were the perfect companion to the evening.

As the night drew to a close, and the cityscape outside transformed into a tapestry of glowing lights, we reflected on Hiltunen’s art and its resonance. With her thought-provoking works etched in our minds, we made our way home, carrying the spirit of the evening with us.

The exhibition will be on display until January 31, 2025.
