Inside The House of Creed

Last Friday evening, The House of Creed invited us into their fragrance boutique Berlin Mitte for a masterclass centred around one of its most recognisable creations: Aventus. Within two and a half hours, fragrance became something to fully explore, as guests moved through the collection, tested scents on their skin and got closer to the stories and compositions behind a house with centuries of premium perfume history.

The evening began with time to explore The House of Creed boutique individually. Between drinks and finger food by Studio Jamila, guests were guided through the collection and introduced to fragrances according to their own preferences. Because what smells compelling on paper can unfold completely differently on individual skin, shaped by warmth, chemistry and the associations we bring to it.

That idea carried into the following masterclass, which introduced The House of Creed and turned its focus towards the Aventus family. What first launched in 2010, has become one of the house’s defining fragrances and the starting point for a collection that has since developed its character in different directions. During the class, guests experienced Aventus, Aventus for Her, Aventus Cologne and Absolu Aventus side by side, tracing how each fragrance interprets the Aventus identity through its own composition and mood.

The heart of the evening was that the masterclass also went deeper into how these compositions are actually created. Breaking fragrance down to its essence, individual ingredients and their effects were explored before looking at how they come together to form a complete scent. It offered a glimpse into the architecture behind something we usually experience instinctively, and into how individual notes can bring freshness, depth or intensity before becoming part of a much more complex whole.

Afterwards, everyone returned to the wider The House of Creed collection and tried fragrances directly on their skin. With a better understanding now of what sits beneath each composition, smelling became a little more precise, turning first impressions into an exercise in recognising ingredients, effects and the way a fragrance develops over time.

Among those joining us and The House of Creed for the evening were Berlin creative producer Bryce Nielsen, alongside friends of SLEEK and guests from across Berlin’s creative scene. Over drinks, scent strips and increasingly perfumed wrists, the boutique became a place for conversations about taste and memory, with some guests finding a favourite convincing enough to take home that same evening.
