Lily-Rose Depp and Vanessa Paradis for Chanel No.5. Image by Vogue
Yesterday, Chanel released two teaser videos for the brand’s much-anticipated new fragrance, N°5 L’EAU with Lily-Rose Depp as the face. The scent is a “new composition of an icon” for the next generation, so it makes sense that the Maison has drafted in the daughter of one of its previous ambassador’s Vanessa Paradis. These are the reasons we think she’s got it all for the role:
Millennial
The casting could not be more perfect – Chanel has resisted selling their collections online and last to join the Instagram party – this 16-year-old model is a social media star, and has two million followers ready to put their thumbs up to her daily posts.
Keeping it in the Family
When Chanel endorses something, it is forever, like Karl’s contract-for-life. Paradis is a long-time spokesperson for the French house. What’s more, the heritage brand prides itself on designing timeless pieces that woman want to pass down to their children, so hiring Paradis’s daughter was an obvious choice.
The Rockstar Factor
Growing up in one of the coolest families on earth gives Lily-Rose Depp instant kudos. Who else can claim that Marilyn Manson picked them up from school?
One to Watch
Depp’s acting debut alongside Natalie Portman in “Planetarium”, a period drama fantasy, will be released this November 2016. Cue Hollywood’s hottest acting dynasty. We are excited.
