The British capital is known for its showmanship on the runway, but this year it outdid itself, giving us the referential wit and dramatic flair we love it for. As the long weekend of fashion shows comes to an end, here are some of our favourite moments from London Fashion Week Men’s.

In a dark show that favoured black column silhouettes and occult styling touches, head designer Eden Loweth gave us the low-tech communication method we need for going into 2020—chest hair writing. British artist Paul Kindersley had the honour of having the brand’s name inscribed in his chest hair.

Martine Rose took her cowboy boot silhouette to new heights this season—all the way up to the thigh, while still being loose enough to comfortably fit a bootcut jean underneath.
‘90s suiting at Bianca Saunders
Between the satin walls and the oversized suits we were getting major pre-millennium nostalgia for the silhouettes of boy bands past, like 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men.

What with the pastel bellboy suits and the moustachioed Adrien Brody look alikes it was hard not to see the eclectic characters of The Grand Budapest Hotel, Life Aquatic, and The Royal Tenenbaums in the silky pyjama and track suiting of 8on8.

While the runways were full of head-to-toe denim looks, nothing quite rivalled the Christlike elegance of Per Götesson’s final look featuring an indigo apron dress paired with a crown of thorns made of pencils.

Yi-Ling Kuo of 1×1 Studio expanded the definition of kink this season to include knitwear gimp suits, as well as hair and yarn bondage, give the BDSM tropes a literal softer side.
