Three days, six studios, two hotels, one ferry and hundreds of kilometers after our search began, it was time to head back to Berlin – but before we did we made some good last stops: we drove down to the water through Copenhagen’s Hellerup neighbourhood, where some residents are lucky enough to call the Baltic their backyard, and headed to a tiny waterfront locale so far away from central Copenhagen it seemed like its own town. We got ice creams and passed a hand-painted “kissing bench” on the way to the water – we wanted to take in as much of the salty breeze as we could before heading back to ocean-less Berlin.
In collaboration with mb! Magazine we had headed out on the road to seek out creatives and their thoughts, and that’s what we found: all so different in their approaches, work spaces and projects it seemed we had travelled much further than “just” Copenhagen: the geographically dispersed fashion collective Hui-Hui, polymath creator and collaborator Dirk Bonn, long standing, tightly-knit fashion collective Wood Wood and the singular magazine makers of fashion and fantasy in textile and print, Stine Goya, Anne Sofie Madsen and Uwe Jens Bermeitinger: solo visionaries with their own teams of collaborators. The answer to the search: well, it raises more questions than it answers, and that’s why we’ll be heading out on more road trips later this year.
