Last April, Calvin Klein announced that its creative directors Francisco Costa and Italo Zucchelli would be leaving the iconic fashion house. Though the brand’s CEO Steve Shiffman called the news a surprise, speculations began to surround the entrance of Raf Simons as the new company head. Today the rumours finally come true. Simons, who left his role as creative director of Christian Dior women’s in October 2015, has been officially appointed the new chief creative officer of Calvin Klein.
Shiffman has already expressed his positive outlook on Raf’s arrival, asserting, “The arrival of Raf Simons as chief creative officer signifies a momentous new chapter for Calvin Klein.” He goes on to say, “Raf’s exceptional contributions have shaped and modernised fashion as we see it today and, under his direction, Calvin Klein will further solidify its position as a leading global lifestyle brand.” With this new career move, we look forward to seeing what Simons has up his sleeve for the American label’s future.
