Whoever has been to Sicily before, knows, there is sun, there is nature, there is good food and passion. On the streets, you can feel the history breathing in the buildings that surround you: columned arcades, mosaics and fountains. Everything is a mixture of Arabic, Norman and Baroque architecture. It is the perfect place to come together and to celebrate art. Therefore, SLEEK traveled to Palermo, the heart of the Island, and joined ‘Progenesi or the children of tomorrow’ for you: an interdisciplinary performance at Palazzo di Merlo that showcased the work of four unique artists.
The performance was choreographed by the Berlin-based artist Ahmed Soura, while the musician Sasha Lattuca, created a fusion of classical and electronic sounds. Osman Özel, the artist who captured the magazine cover of our latest issue SLEEK 78 – BLISS, is known for his work with movement and space. At ‘Progenesi’, he exhibited a video installation that portrays the world’s chaotic rhythm. Last but not least, sculptor and painter Gabriella Furno showcased her latest work. Every performance was meant to address the post-colonial past, future and identity and allowed the audience to dive into a world of emotions.
