THE STRONGEST THING WE HAVE

What you might not notice at first glance when Jordan, better known as BADMÓMZJAY, takes the stage is that she has two tattoos that perfectly sum up her energy. One is dedicated to J. Cole’s Love Yours, a song that has stayed with her ever since she started making music herself: “It always reminds me to love my own life exactly as it is.” The other is the word “Healer”. It’s a word that makes the German rapper think of her fans and her own music.

“I often hear, ‘You healed me with this song.’ That’s exactly what I want to do with music: move people,” she says with a proud smile. Asked whether her stage identity, badmómzjay, has healed her too, she says: “Absolutely! Whenever I’m scared of something, I think of badmómzjay.” It is precisely this ability to make people feel seen that has made Jordan a role model for emerging artists, for women and for anyone who sometimes feels alone in the world.

Now, the musician has been named an EQUAL ambassador, part of Spotify’s global program to create more equity for the women of the music industry. As an Ambassador, Jordan wants to show that standing together is more important than ever: “I think it’s important that we show love, that we’re kind to each other and, above all, that we’re brave.” For Jordan, the first step towards that is support and visibility: “I think that’s really missing in the industry because everyone is too busy looking out for themselves.”

Jordan knows what she’s talking about. She has been part of the industry for years and is only just shy of 24. That’s why she knows immediately what she would no longer accept today: “People not taking me seriously. I’ve put so much heart and soul into my music and stood up for so many things. I’m not letting anyone take that away from me anymore.”

In 2026, Jordan is finally ready to show a new side of herself. For the EQUAL Singles campaign, she has covered Rihanna’s Rehab. It is the first time she has recorded herself only singing, revealing a vulnerable side we haven’t seen from her before. Her next album, Haus am Meer, set to be released early next year, will be just as emotional. The title evokes a sense of calm and retreat, and that is exactly what it means to Jordan. She grew up thinking of the sea as something unattainable, and it became the place she would see for the first time in her life once she had ‘made it’.

Jordan has endless stories to tell. She is strong and fierce, yet has no hesitation in speaking openly about her fears and struggles. Her advice to young female artists therefore fits pretty perfectly with everything she stands for herself: “Intuition is the strongest thing we have. If something feels right, then it is right. Don’t let anyone change who you are.”
