When Gucci und Givenchy both feature the same new face in their latest campaigns – unveiled within 72 hours of each other – the fashion world takes note. The rising star in question? Berlin.

Monday saw the release of Glen Luchford’s dreamy images for Gucci of skateboarding 1970s glamour kids – toting peacocks and climbing the familiar yellow-tiled steps of Hermannplatz. Then, rather hastily, Givenchy released a teaser for their Autumn 2016 pre-collection campaign. This is also set on the humble U-Bahn and shot by Berlin-based artist Matt Lambert. According to his Instagram, Ricardo Tisci was only in a Berlin two weeks ago, so one might speculate that the release was pushed forward purely in reaction to Gucci. Oh to be a fly-on- the-wall in the Givenchy HQ that day! Watch Givenchy’s campaign teaser below.
