This season’s menswear offerings from Paris sat (and in some cases danced—we’re looking at you Issey Miyake) in a space between the recognisable traditions of menswear and a palpable effort by designers to create garments that felt genuinely future-proof. Craig Green’s departure from London became Paris’ gain as attendees were treated to an abstract collection which married heritage warrior silhouettes with his quintessential layered pleats with an impressive delicacy. Virgil Abloh returned to Paris after a period of doctor’s ordered absence to offer a surreal update to the ultimate menswear staple: the working man’s tailored suit. The tail end of looks from his Louis Vuitton show were washed in a vivid, dreamlike blue, with accompanying accessories frequently sporting cloud motifs. This combined with several blazers which were encrusted with crystals to add a final frosting to a luxe collection billed as “something you haven’t seen from me before”. With the Calvin Klein 205w39nyc experience well out of his system, Raf Simons, meanwhile, presented a classically masculine collection with cleanly-cut tailoring and broad, boxy overcoats.
Away from the runways, many faces—both recognisable and anonymous—could be glimpsed in the Parisian rues soaking up the atmosphere and sporting their most eye-catching looks. In case you missed them, they didn’t manage to escape the lens of street style photographer, Yu Fujiwara.
