A visual conversation, Obey\u00a0<\/em>is about the rules that are designed to suppress identity, in schools within authoritarian countries. It is a prelude to living under a restrictive regime in which total freedom of individuality and expression is a threat. The rules define the terms of societal acceptance, and specifically the limitations on appearance favour a communistic and traditional idea of identity. It is a system designed to produce “acceptable” versions of people.<\/p>\n
