HALBHAUS: TRANSMITTER<\/a><\/h4>\n

HALBHAUS is an exhibition space, that was originally rented by the Berlin University of the Arts<\/a> as a studio space for their students. Therefore, it became a place, where upcoming artists can exchange their work and their ideas with each other \u2013 just like a \u201cTransmitter\u201d; a device that generates electromagnetic waves to transport information. On Thursday, HALBHAUS presents an exhibition, that\u2019s not only a collection of unique artworks, but a center of organic growth and creativity.<\/p>\n

NEUE NATIONALGALERIE: PERFORM!<\/a><\/h4>\n

What would you do if you had a pair of scissors in your hand and could do whatever you wanted \u2013 without consequences? Cut a strand of Hair? A piece of fabric? Undress a person? Those questions were asked by the legendary artist Yoko Ono<\/a>, when she created the performance and participatory work \u201cCut Piece\u201d in 1964. In collaboration with Studio Yoko Ono and the Neue Nationalgalerie<\/a>, different Berlin-based Artists will perform the work where they sit motionless in front of the audience and get their clothing cut with scissors \u2013 A significant piece of performance Art recreated in Berlin.<\/p>\n

MAHALLA OPEN<\/a><\/h4>\n

Over 100 artists from all over the world, invited by seven curator teams \u2013 all of them came together to create the MaHalla OPEN: an exhibition, that transcends the conventions of time and art. With music, performances, installations, and many other mediums, the artists have been given the freedom to use the stage for themselves as they wish. The exhibition transforms into a festival of its own beautiful and creative kind, that is purposely planned late into night.<\/p>\n

Finally! \u2013 The long-awaited Fotografiska<\/a> is celebrating its grand opening during Berlin Art Week: panel talks, live music, and multiple DJ sets across three floors will welcome the guests on Thursday. Overall, the new Contemporary Museum will showcase upcoming visual artists, as well as established ones, Berlin-based as well as international ones. HALLS #4: ESRA G\u00dcLMEN<\/a><\/h4>\n

Esra G\u00fclmen is a Berlin-based artist from Istanbul. Her contemporary art is playful, ironic and moves between sculpture and painting. It\u2019s her own creative language, that she uses to respond to social topics such as the human condition, our inner voice, and daily obsessions. Her exhibition focuses on dialectics in a constructive and visual dialogue. At the same time, Halls #4 is a location, that offers not only G\u00fclmen the stage and space she deserves but also a popular well-organized Arts Festival with 19 galleries and 50 exhibiting artists spread over a 9.000m\u00b2 large area. AI WEIWEI: KNOW THYSELF<\/a><\/h4>\n

Ai Weiwei<\/a> is back in Berlin and ready to impress us once again: His new exhibition \u201cKnow Thyself\u201d is opening on Wednesday and shows iconic artworks from the past, that the Chinese Artist recreated with the help of small colorful Lego-Stones. The Plastic Stones are an element that unites not only generations but also people from all over the world. At the same time, they remind of pixels and mirror the short life and the mass circulation of visual content. The paintings Weiwei chose to add his own personal touch are pieces such as The Water Lilies by Monet, The Last Supper by Michelangelo and Number 31 by Jackson Pollock. DENISE FLAMME: BLUSH REHABILITATION<\/a><\/h4>\n

\u201cBlush Rehabilitation\u201d tells the story of modified octopuses being rescued from the polluted and overheated sea, and of the forced perfect smile that wears braces at night \u2013 It\u2019s an exhibition, that continues the artist\u2019s ongoing endeavor to explore displacement, exploitation, and the scientific manipulation of non-human entities, laying bare the intricate consequences for both humans and our non-human counterparts. Denise Flamme\u2019s work encompasses a diverse array of sculptural pieces, garments, and drawings, each meticulously crafted to weave together progressive hybrid worlds within intimate personal performance scenarios, where boundaries blur and form a symbiotic existence.<\/p>\n

DOROTHY IANNONE: ON THE CONTINUING JOURNEY<\/a><\/h4>\n

Dorothy Iannone is not only a unique artist who worked with various techniques such as paintings, photography, and sound installations, but also an artist who fought for sexual, physical, and human freedom. While the exhibits question patriarchy and different balances of power itself, the recurring motive of the collection is spiritual unification.
