Photo \u00a9 Maxime Ballesteros<\/p>\n<p>Contemporary jewellery \u2013 fine art, craft or design? \u201cThere are a lot of questions of where contemporary jewellery is going now, the direction it is going in, if the body is needed for it to work or not,\u201d says Katerina Vorlova, the 27-year-old Czech contemporary jewellery designer and fine art graduate, whom we met after driving the Mercedes-Benz E 500 Coup\u00e9 to Prague. When considering Vorlova&#8217;s work it becomes clear that jewellery doesn&#8217;t need the body to come to life; part of Vorlova&#8217;s diploma collection hangs in a Prague gallery because it is too fragile to be wearable. The objects are made of plaster and hang on a string made of cotton. Vorlova continued to dip and re-dip the string in plaster until the objects got bigger and bigger. \u201cThe process is important for me as anything could happen.
