I\u2019m sitting in my shared kitchen in Berlin, while the shrieks of children from the backyard cut through the constant bass of the street. Although such places may seem calm compared to the pulsating club and techno scene of this city, I want to escape the constant hustle.<\/p>\n

So I put on my Apple Vision Pro, a virtual reality headset that promises to take me to places no ordinary plane could reach so quickly. It\u2019s designed to merge real and digital worlds and create immersive experiences. The Apple Home screen suddenly hovers in the middle of the kitchen. My flatmate? With a wave of my hand, I enlarge videos, almost as if stretching chewing gum. There\u2019s no mouse here; instead, I focus on icons with my eyes and tap with my fingertips to select. Zap \u2014 the next button is activated. I quickly discover the option to immerse myself in different environments: Yosemite, the desert at sunset, or the moon.<\/p>\n

I choose the desert landscape, and suddenly I\u2019m no longer in Berlin. I\u2019m standing in the middle of a glowing orange and rust-red sea of sand, clouds rushing across the sky. Laughter from my flatmates drifts into my ears, but it sounds so far away \u2014 as if from another world.<\/p>\n
