class=\"apple-converted-space\"><b><span lang=\"FR\">\u00ab<\/span><\/b><\/span>S\u00e9ance de Travail<strong><span lang=\"FR\">\u00bb <\/span><\/strong>widmet das MAK dem \u00f6sterreichischen Designer Helmut Lang erstmals eine umfassende \u00dcberblicksschau und damit einen tiefen Einblick in ein Werk, das Mode, Kunst und Identit\u00e4t seit den sp\u00e4ten 1980er Jahren ma\u00dfgeblich gepr\u00e4gt hat. Statt eines klassischen R\u00fcckblicks entsteht ein vielschichtiger Raum, der Langs Arbeitsweise sichtbar macht. Eine \u00c4sthetik, die Reduktion mit Gef\u00fchl vereint, und ein Denken, das kreative Felder nicht begrenzt, sondern miteinander verschr\u00e4nkt.<\/p>\n<p>Die Pr\u00e4sentationen, die Lang selbst als Arbeitssitzungen bezeichnete, bilden den Ausgangspunkt der Ausstellung. Seine fr\u00fchen Shows waren performativ, bewusst prozesshaft und von einer dokumentarischen Direktheit gepr\u00e4gt. Schon ab 1988 bewegten sich Models, Freundinnen und Freunde unterschiedlicher Altersgruppen durch rohe industrielle R\u00e4ume in Paris und New York. Mode, Architektur, Klang und Publikum verschmolzen zu Situationen, die eher wie k\u00fcnstlerische Interventionen wirkten als klassische Modenschauen. Polaroids, Prototypen, Fotografien, Werbematerialien, Architekturmodule oder Videodokumentation der Runway-Pr\u00e4sentationen erscheinen gleichwertig nebeneinander. Die Ausstellung folgt Langs egalit\u00e4rer Haltung: Jedes Element, ob fl\u00fcchtig oder monumental, tr\u00e4gt Bedeutung. Zum ersten Mal sind auch die vollst\u00e4ndigen S\u00e9ance de Travail Runway-Shows in lebensgro\u00dfen Projektionen mit Originalmusik zu sehen. Zudem werden die Displaycontainer aus den ehemaligen Flagship Stores von Lang ma\u00dfstabsgetreu rekonstruiert und machen seine pr\u00e4zisen gestalterischen Prinzipien r\u00e4umlich erfahrbar.<\/p>\n<p>Die Schau zeigt einen Designer, der kompromisslos experimentierte und zugleich sensibel auf gesellschaftliche Str\u00f6mungen reagierte. Rochenleder neben Samtstickereien, Pferdehaar neben PVC, Materialien, die nicht dem Showmoment dienen, sondern einer intensiven Besch\u00e4ftigung mit K\u00f6rper, Funktion und Identit\u00e4t. Wie hat sich Ihr pers\u00f6nlicher Zugang zu Helmut Langs Werk entwickelt?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Marlies Wirth<\/strong> Die Art, wie Helmut Lang als K\u00fcnstler und auch als Person an Dinge herangeht, ist mir sehr nah. Die K\u00fcnstlerinnen, mit denen er arbeitet, wie Jenny Holzer und Louise Bourgeois, sind Positionen mit starker feministischer, auch politischer Haltung. Dass er genau diese als Wegbegleiterinnen aussucht \u2013 es sind ja auch langj\u00e4hrige Freundschaften entstanden \u2013 hat mich von Anfang an sehr interessiert und ber\u00fchrt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Die Faszination war auch dieser egalit\u00e4re Zugang: Unsichtbare Arbeit wird sichtbar und als aufbewahrenswert erachtet. Die Polaroids &#8211; einfach Gebrauchsfotografie &#8211; werden hier zusammen mit den Fotografien aus den &#8220;Backstage Series&#8221; von Juergen Teller gezeigt, weil sie die Aussage treffen, dass das Menschliche im Vordergrund steht, das Unfertige, Unperfekte. Helmut Lang hat seine Pr\u00e4sentationen bewusst als S\u00e9ance de Travail bezeichnet, als Arbeitssitzung, als Work in Progress, um den fortlaufenden Prozess der Ver\u00e4nderung, Anpassung und Verfeinerung zum Ausdruck zu bringen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"interview-question\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><strong>S <\/strong><strong>Die Ausstellung ist als Mixed-Media-Pr\u00e4sentation angelegt und \u00fcberschreitet bewusst klassische Modeausstellungen. Was war Ihnen dabei wichtig?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-start=\"2127\" data-end=\"2326\"><strong>MW<\/strong> Wichtig war mir, dass es ein Erfahrungsraum wird. Die \u00dcberlegung, wie man eine Ausstellung von Helmut Lang gestaltet, wurde relativ schnell beantwortet: Mit seinem eigenen Konzept von &#8220;Display&#8221;. F\u00fcr seine Flagship-Stores arbeitete Lang mit dem Architekten Richard Gluckman zusammen. Die schwarzen modularen &#8220;Container&#8221; eignen sich perfekt, um in Vitrinen \u00fcbersetzt zu werden. Sie lenken Blick und Aufmerksamkeit durch bewusstes Verbergen und Enth\u00fcllen. Wir haben eine Halle mit Glasdach, die eine ganz \u00e4hnliche Atmosph\u00e4re erzeugt wie bei Langs S\u00e9ance de Travail. Es geht nicht um historische Rekonstruktion, sondern um die Vermittlung einer Idee, die der Raum darstellt, damit die Gestaltungsstrategien Helmut Langs r\u00e4umlich erlebbar werden.<\/p>\n<p class=\"interview-question\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><strong>S<\/strong> <strong>Das Helmut-Lang-Archiv im MAK umfasst mehr als 10.000 Datens\u00e4tze. Nach welchen Kriterien haben Sie die Auswahl f\u00fcr diese Ausstellung getroffen?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>MW<\/strong> Nach den thematischen Schwerpunkten des Ausstellungskonzepts. Mit gezieltem Suchen nach Architekturprojekten, k\u00fcnstlerischen Kollaborationen und Materialien, die den Arbeitsprozess hinter den Kulissen zeigen. Zum Kapitel &#8220;Backstage&#8221; haben wir umfassende Serien von Polaroids, darunter vollst\u00e4ndige Run-of-Show-Polaroids, teils mit mehreren Notizen &#8211; so wird die Arbeit an der Lookabfolge nachvollziehbar. Dieser Backstage-Gedanke wurde zum konzeptuellen Leitgedanken: Ich m\u00f6chte den Besucherinnen ein \u00e4hnliches Erlebnis vermitteln wie ich es hatte: die Freude des Entdeckens und wenn sich viele einzelne kleine Momente zu einem gro\u00dfen Ganzen verbinden. Deshalb gibt es nicht nur finale Versionen zu sehen, sondern auch den Prozess ihrer Entwicklung.<\/p>\n<p>In Showabl\u00e4ufen und einem Showbudget wird auch die Arbeit im Hintergrund sichtbar, zum Beispiel wie viel Dressers verdient haben.
