Die deutsch-chinesischen Beziehungen erleben derzeit einen Aufschwung, und die Hauptstadt feiert das 20-j\u00e4hrige Jubil\u00e4um der Zusammenarbeit zwischen Berlin und Peking. Um die derzeitige Begeisterung f\u00fcr die chinesische Kultur in Berlin optimal zu nutzen, widmen wir uns diese Woche K\u00fcnstlern und Designern aus der Volksrepublik China.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n

Xiao Li is known for her sculptural silhouettes and technical ingenuity, and has won Fashion Scout’s prestigious Merit award, as well as the Diesel award from International Talent Support.\u00a0The Chinese-born, London-based\u00a0designer here showcases her AW14 collection and speaks to\u00a0Schlank<\/em> about what makes her tick, design-wise, and what the future holds for her brand.<\/p>\n\n

On London vs China…<\/strong><\/p>\n

I wanted to study fashion, travel and have some new life experience. So London became to my first choice.\u00a0London is the place that inspired me the most. After traveling and living in different places, I feel London is the right place for me to live and start my career.\u00a0I started and based in London so Europe is my start point. But I want to develop my brand to be a international brand. So from AW14 I started working with 10 Corso Como Milan, Seoul and Shanghai. Opening Ceremony NY, LA and London.<\/p>\n

I grew up in Qingdao, a beautiful seaside city with mixed culture, art and architectures. I think that’s the reason I felt in love with art and then developed it into fashion.<\/p>\n

I think Chinese fashion developed fast and well. The Chinese market is an exciting area for international fashion brands. I am looking forward to develop my business there.<\/p>\n

On winning the Diesel award from International Talent Support…<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are few moments I still can’t believe it happened in my life. But to be one of the winners at International talent support is most real and surreal moment so far. I followed that competition since I started fashion. Now I am looking forward the next moment.<\/p>\n

On her design trademarks…<\/strong><\/p>\n

I always love the sculpture feeling garments.\u00a0It is one of my trademarks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I enjoy playing with the new technical things in my collection, I am curious with the new things and unexpected results. It makes me always passionate about what I am doing. Also it makes my collection innovative and special.<\/p>\n\n
