\nAs gallerists prepare for a weekend of bustling visitors and extended hours at this year’s Berliner Galerie-Wochenende<\/a>, the city\u2019s art admirers are meanwhile preparing a plan of attack. More than 50 galleries are participating in this year\u2019s event, meaning there\u2019s no time to waste.\u00a0 Here, we outline the 10 can\u2019t-miss viewings to help you feel a little less overwhelmed.

\nHarland Miller<\/strong> \n Blain|Southern<\/a><\/strong> \n Potsdamer Stra\u00dfe 77-87, 10785<\/strong> \nWith an artistic career concentrated on the marriage between text and imagery, the large-scale works shown in this exhibition are heavily influenced by the fall of the Berlin Wall. Miller uses abstract geometrical covers from 1960s and 70s pop psychology books to depict a flip-side narrative that challenges the American Dream\u2019s affirmative slogans.

\nEd Fornieles<\/strong> \n Arratia Beer<\/a><\/strong> \n Potsdamer Stra\u00dfe 87<\/strong> \nIn his first solo exhibition at Arratia Beer, Ed Fornieles\u2019s show entitled \u201cDie Geist: Flesh Feast\u201d transforms the gallery\u2019s space into a sort of \u201cDiet Bar\u201d through a combination of sculptures, animation, banners and films. On these works, Fornieles says, \u201cI am becoming equipped with weapons such as smart drugs, micro-dosing, therapy and personal training. I am becoming aware that these tools are unevenly accessible to people in different economic and political demographics.\u201d

\nNew Noveta<\/strong> \n Galerie Sandy Brown<\/a><\/strong> \n Goebenstra\u00dfe 7, 10783<\/strong> \nReturning to Berlin for a special Gallery Weekend performance on 30 April at 7pm, New Noveta\u2019s intense performance piece is sure to be unlike any other work viewed this weekend.

\nTom\u00e1s Saraceno<\/strong> \n Esther Schipper<\/a><\/strong> \n Sch\u00f6neberger Ufer 65, 10785<\/strong> \n\u201cAerocene\u201d focuses on societies\u2019 relation with both the Earth and the Sun. Saraceno combines the theoretical frameworks of art with those from the scientific disciplines of biology and physics to create works that express his utopian visions. It should be noted that many of the exhibition\u2019s works were inspired by spiders and their ability to travel thousands of kilometres by \u201cballooning.\u201d

\nTobias Rehberger<\/strong> \n Neugerriemschneider<\/a><\/strong> \n Linienstra\u00dfe 155, 10115<\/strong> \nThis group exhibition entitled \u201cpresently\u201d consists of over 60 artists that have inspired Rehberger throughout his career. The roster includes Ai Weiwei, Carsten H\u00f6ller, Wolfgang Tillmans and others.

\nHiwa K; Tobias Zielony<\/strong> \n KOW<\/a><\/strong> \n Brunnenstra\u00dfe 9, 10119<\/strong> \nWith his installation \u201cIt\u2019s Spring and the Weather is Great so Let\u2019s Close All Object Matters,\u201d Iraqi-born Hiwa K presents his first ever exhibition in Germany. Additionally, the KOW will also host \u201cThe Citizen\u201d by Tobias Zielony. A project that began in the 2015 Venice Biennale, Zielony\u2019s photographs highlight the struggle many Africans face during their migration as refugees in Germany.

\nAleksandra Domanovic<\/strong> \n Tanya Leighton<\/a><\/strong> \n Kurf\u00fcrstenstra\u00dfe 156, 10785<\/strong> \nWorks shown will look at the metaphorical, practical and scientific importance animals have on humans, as well as their impact on our understanding of the world.\u00a0The artist investigates topics related to animals and their\u00a0position\u00a0as\u00a0polytheistic gods, the discovery of DNA\u00a0and the gene-editing technology CRISPR, which has enabled scientists to genetically modify animals without using conventional breeding practices.

\n\u201cGartenschau\u201d<\/strong> \n K\u00f6nig Galerie<\/a><\/strong> \n 121, Alexandrinenstra\u00dfe 118<\/strong> \nAs St. Agnes\u2019s Garden is open to the public for the first time this year, the space is divided into distinct areas based on vegetation. Sculpture takes center stage with works by Elmgreen & Dragset, Jeppe Hein, Camille Henrot and Michael Sailstorfer.

Its role as a setting where the artist spends a majority of his time is examined, allowing visitors to interpret its role in Tillmans\u2019s life.
