\nIn the past, there existed a misguided\u00a0notion among fashion critics that\u00a0menswear was inherently “boring” when compared to women’s collections. Where female-focused designers had more room for creativity, men’s collections were thought to be full of restrictions. Recently however, the industry is full of change. As designers push society’s boundaries with regards to clothing and gender, we see understated androgyny on one hand and striking flamboyance on the other. This change has given\u00a0way\u00a0for\u00a0increased freedom for labels\u00a0to explore men’s fashion to the full.
\nHere, we present Craig Green, Justin O’Shea, Grace Wales Bonner,\u00a0Sam Lambert and Shaka Maidoh \u2013\u00a0five\u00a0creatives\u00a0shaking up the menswear scene and dispelling the myth that men’s collections\u00a0can’t be fun.

The Print Professional<\/h2>\n

Craig Green<\/a><\/strong> \nNever one to shy away from a pattern or two, Craig Green creates designs that are\u00a0full of printed ornamentation. Past presentations at London Collections: Men have featured classic paisley and even tie-dye. But the Central Saint Martins graduate doesn’t stop there.\u00a0Instead he goes one step further, playing with colour and volume for collections that are anything but dull.

The Sartorial Rockstar<\/h2>\n

Justin O’Shea at Brioni<\/a><\/strong> \nWhen Brioni announced Australian Justin O’Shea as its newest creative director, the fashion industry became awe-struck. With no prior experience designing, the appointment of O’Shea was an interesting move for the Italian fashion house. The tattooed bad boy\u00a0seems\u00a0to be fitting into\u00a0his\u00a0role quite well given his CV, incorporating some much\u00a0needed edge into the sartorial label’s image. He\u00a0even featured\u00a0Metallica\u00a0in\u00a0the brand’s most recent campaign, proving that suiting-up doesn’t have to look so stuffy.

The Menswear Embellisher<\/h2>\n

Grace Wales Bonner<\/a><\/strong> \nWinner of this year’s LVMH prize and one of the most buzzed about designers right now, Grace Wales Bonner<\/a>\u00a0blends European\u00a0menswear designs with a traditionally African\u00a0counterpart to create collections that challenge western notions of luxury.\u00a0Incorporating ornate jewels and glittering sequins\u00a0into her work, the designs\u00a0also confront\u00a0modern\u00a0perceptions of\u00a0masculinity.

The Tailor-addicted\u00a0Rebels<\/h2>\n

Sam Lambert and Shaka Maidoh at Art Comes First<\/a><\/strong> \nA creative collective that focuses on fashion and \u2013 you guessed it \u2013 art, Art Comes First rose to fame for\u00a0its strong dedication towards\u00a0well-tailored\u00a0collaborations with the most innovative names in sartorial design. The duo behind the project\u00a0is\u00a0Sam Lambert and Shaka Maido, two self-described tailor addicts<\/a>\u00a0whose rebellious menswear offerings are equal parts Marlon Brando and Andr\u00e9 3000.
