\nEvery autumn Foam Magazine releases its Talent Issue, a showcase of the world’s young photographers currently performing at the top of their game. This recognition is a monumental\u00a0accomplishment\u00a0that positions emerging creatives towards\u00a0a lasting career marked with critically acclaimed success.\u00a0For 2016, the periodical has selected 24 photographers all under the age of 35. Of the talents chosen, we’ve narrowed down the list to five artists whose images\u00a0we instantly loved.
\nHere, we present our five favourite photographers from Foam\u00a0Magazine’s\u00a02016 Talent Issue.

1. Sofia Ayarzagoitia<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Monterrey, Mexico<\/h2>\n

“Mbagne”<\/strong> \nWith a focus on\u00a0creating intimate connections between\u00a0each\u00a0subject, Sofia Ayarzagoitia has spent most of her career shooting friends and family\u00a0from her hometown. For “Mbagne” the photographer showcases her friend Mbagne in 35mm film as he poses in front of vibrant backdrops of blue.

2. Louise Parker<\/a> \u2013 New York City, USA<\/h2>\n

“Pieces of me”<\/strong> \nContinuing in the tradition of her\u00a0oft-forgotten female Dada predecessors, Louise Parker’s cut-and-paste imagery is a critical analysis of societal tropes associated with womanhood. Because Parker also works as a model, this satirical approach serves as an\u00a0attempt to regain agency of her\u00a0image.

3. Ilona Szwarc<\/a> \u2013 Los Angeles, USA<\/h2>\n

“I am a woman and I feast on memory”<\/strong> \nIn a vein similar to Louise Parker, Ilona Szwarc crafts\u00a0images with gender as\u00a0the pivotal theme. For “I am woman and I feast on memory”, her portraits begin with a bare-faced woman who quickly morphs into an unrecognisable caricature as a result of heavy make-up and face paint. For Szwarc, this transformation is meant to symbolise societal pressures on appearance, and how\u00a0humans\u00a0oftentimes become strangers to their\u00a0former selves.

4. Nico Krijno<\/a> \u2013 Cape Town, South Africa<\/h2>\n

“Fabricated to be Photographed”<\/strong> \nCreating artworks as both a\u00a0photographer and a sculptor, Nico Krijno’s colourful images are a seamless blend of\u00a0the two\u00a0practices. “Fabricated to be Photographed” is a series of photographs by Krijno that showcase the artist’s mastery of\u00a0each medium.

5. Andrea Gr\u00fctzner<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 Berlin, Germany<\/h2>\n

“Erbgericht”<\/strong> \nThe works of Berlin-based Andrea Gr\u00fctzner are similar to a guessing game where the viewer is forced to figure out what it is they’re looking at. Luckily for the artist, this is her\u00a0intent. The minimalist images that comprise “Erbgericht” feature interiors of an inn located in Neustadt, with each photograph displaying Gr\u00fctzner’s unorthodox approach to proportion and point of view.
