London<\/a> for more affordable cities, it was only a matter of time before authorities tried to counter the trend. Vocalising her opinions on the importance of the community in the city, London\u2019s Deputy Mayor for Culture Justine Simons has revealed plans to create inexpensive housing for artists in the most creative areas of the capital.
\nThe idea of subsidising artists who would like to purchase their own studios has also come into conversation, with the intention of preventing residential developers from completely taking over. Hackney Wick and Peckham have been named as two potential hubs where financially backed studios will be located.
\nSimons stressed the importance of building an area where creative people can put down roots. With the average London property prices at \u00a3600,000, this discussion is a definite necessity for the city\u2019s artists, and is one that is well overdue.
