\nFor the first time in its history, fast-fashion label H&M will\u00a0release a\u00a0full-scale capsule collection with a contemporary artist at the helm. Joining the brand in its introduction into painterly design is American artist Alex Katz<\/a>. Set for release on 1 December, the line will include men’s and women’s clothing as well as homewares.\u00a0While\u00a0no further details have been mentioned, we can already imagine\u00a0Katz’s bright, pop-inspired illustrations on any of the brand’s pocket-friendly closet staples.
\nIt should be noted, however, that this\u00a0is not exactly H&M’s first dip into contemporary art. In 2014 the brand teamed up with Jeff Koons<\/a> to create\u00a0a handbag featuring his famous balloon dog design. Nonetheless, this occasion is a momentous one, as it marks a shift from the label’s current string of fashion-focused collaborations that most recently included\u00a0French luxury label\u00a0Kenzo<\/a>.
