Post-Soviet Chic<\/a>‘ movement, it is Gosha\u00a0Rubchinskiy. The Russian menswear designer has gained legions of loyal fans who follow his every move\u00a0whilst wearing his latest socks, t-shirt or tracksuit. Instead of showing his AW17 collection at Paris Fashion Week, Gosha scheduled the show in Kaliningrad, a remote Russian province between Poland and Lithuania during Florence’s Pitti Uomo. Why? Because he can.
\nAs one of the most influential makers of menswear around, Gosha had invitees excited to go out of their way to view the new collection in his motherland. The collaboration with adidas nodded to the history of Russian Olympic sports teams wearing ‘three stripe’ uniforms. The football-inspired collection, a slight departure from his go-to skate aesthetic, was modelled by an all-Russian cast who walked to the sound of pre-recorded soundbites of the models talking about their interests –\u00a0in Russian naturally. Yesterday, Instagram exploded with Rubchinskiy-related posts as soon as the show began – proving the brand’s presence is stronger than ever, no matter where he shows.
