\"Christian<\/a> “Don’t Hurry Love,” 2015<\/p>\n

Creating highly complex\u00a0paintings with up to fifteen different superimposed layers, the Berlin Lichtenberg-based Christian Awe<\/a> has created a portfolio that\u00a0is marked by\u00a0its inventive use of colour and its experimental yet discernible rhythm.
\nHe started off as a small time graffiti artist in the\u00a0creative tumult\u00a0rising in the wake of\u00a0the Berlin wall coming down. Yet\u00a0he has transferred those skills to painting with excellent effect, combing sprays with acrylic and ink to give his work its hyper-saturated look. \u00a0As a result it can be seen as the perfect synthesis of street art and abstract expressionism. His\u00a0successful move from the world of hip-hop art to the world of art galleries has resulted\u00a0in Istanbul, Perm and Miami\u00a0exhibitions, as well as\u00a0residences at\u00a0Princeton, Baghdad and London. Nevertheless, he hasn’t left his graffiti habits\u00a0entirely, still composing most of his works during the nighttime.
\nWith clients such as Mercedes Benz and the\u00a0Perm Pedagogical University commissioning him to create large-scale public works, Awe is in high-demand. Yet, in addition to his professional work is a steadfast commitment to his local community.
