\nBerlin-based designer Leonie Mergen debuted her highly anticipated first collection in Mitte at\u00a0Kaufhaus Jandorf. The “Karabakh Collection” consisted of pieces inspired by traditional Azerbaijani attire, with plunging necklines and sleeved capes complimented by minimalist hair styling.\u00a0Azerbaijan\u2019s legacy as a hub on the ancient Silk Road is reflected through the sophisticated fabric’s presence\u00a0in the collection alongside equestrian-influenced leather accessories and belts. Geometric navy and burgundy patterns evoke\u00a0Azerbaijan’s infamous tapestries in Mergen’s distinctive first show.

\nPerret Schaad’s AW17 show at Kaufhaus Jandorf was characterised by sprawling yet delicate wire earrings and subtle sparkly eye makeup. Loose lilac pieces floated down the runway while an array of shiny fabrics\u00a0demanded immediate attention from the audience. The oversized clothing enabled a sensitive yet strong sense\u00a0of femininity, referencing a more modern way of dressing women. Chaotic graphics printed on shirts disrupted the sensitive mood of the collection, reminding us that these women do indeed have an edge.
