{"id":4931,"date":"2012-07-09T17:57:19","date_gmt":"2012-07-09T15:57:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sleek-mag.com\/?p=4931"},"modified":"2012-07-09T17:57:19","modified_gmt":"2012-07-09T15:57:19","slug":"thanks-for-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sleek-mag.com\/de\/article\/thanks-for-coming\/","title":{"rendered":"Thanks for Coming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"size--small\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4935\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sleek-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Melinda-Szepesi.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"336\" height=\"504\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On a rainy July 5th, in the midst of a manic Berlin Fashion Week, photography and fashion admirers came together to see the opening of fashion photographer Mark Pillai\u2019s Casting Diary project, \u201cThanks for Coming\u201d at Galerie Pavlov\u2019s Dog.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first solo exhibition for the German fashion photographer who, based in Paris, has worked for international publications such as Vogue, Dazed&amp;Confused, and Harpers Bazaar.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pillai projected an extensive slideshow, displaying around 240 models photographed at castings in his Parisian apartment and studio over the past seven years.\u00a0Even though the photos are fashion by nature, the black and white projections ooze an intimate, documentary feel, luring the viewer to feel they\u2019ve been permitted a glimpse into the private, \u201cbehind the scenes\u201d, side of a model\u2019s life, rather than simply being a hurried shot from a casting.<\/p>\n<p>The images often adopt a playful tone and, while they may not necessarily depict a private moment, Pillai manages to capture what feels like a personal aspect of each of the models, whether it\u2019s their looks or individual character.\u00a0Completely un-photoshopped, the information-rich projections certainly demand your attention \u2013 just as much as the model in them demanded the attention of Pillai for those full 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Open from 6th-28th July 2012.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/pavlovsdog.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pavlov&#8217;s Dog\u00a0<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On a rainy July 5th, in the midst of a manic Berlin Fashion Week, photography and fashion admirers came together to see the opening of fashion photographer Mark Pillai\u2019s Casting Diary project, \u201cThanks for Coming\u201d at Galerie Pavlov\u2019s Dog.
