Originally a pagan celebration, these\u00a0days Midsommar is an excuse for Swedes to revisit the customs and traditions of their ancestors on the shortest night of the year. Every aspect of the day has some sort of historic significance,\u00a0from the\u00a0flower-covered Maypole to the food and drinks that are served.<\/em>
\nThough it’s celebrated in various locales around the world, a Swedish Midsommar is truly unlike anything else.\u00a0This year, Sleek is teaming up with Absolut Vodka to show our readers how to celebrate like a real Swede. As we count down the days until this year’s Absolut Midsommar Weekender\u00a0event in Ahus, Sweden from 24-25 June, we’ll\u00a0cover all the\u00a0basics, including what to wear, where to party, how to make a flower crown and the must-try cocktails you need to drink.<\/em>

\nWhile Midsommar is a holiday enjoyed\u00a0by people of all ages, libations are a traditional aspect of\u00a0celebrating as an adult. The Swedes are known to get pretty creative during this time, cooking up tasty home brews of vodka, schnapps\u00a0and other liquors to share with friends and family throughout the event.
\nEven so, nothing beats the refreshing taste\u00a0of a chilled cocktail on a hot day. For the vodka fanatics out there, Absolut has concocted three mouth watering beverages\u00a0perfect for sipping in the sun this Midsommar.<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0Absolut Soda<\/h2>\n

\n1 lime wedge
\nPour vodka in a glass over ice
\nSqueeze juice of 1 lime wedge and add to glass
\nFill with soda water<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0Absolut Midsommar Punch<\/h2>\n

\n1000 ml Absolut Vodka
\n1200 ml natural apple juice
\n600 ml of rhubarb syrup
\n120 ml pink grapefruit juice
\n300 ml fresh lime juice
\n600 ml of cold rooibos tea
\nCombine all ingredients together
\nPour\u00a0in a glass over\u00a0ice
\nTop\u00a0with soda water
\nGarnish with sliced grapefruit\u00a0and raspberries<\/p>\n
