Originally a pagan celebration, these\u00a0days Midsommar is an excuse for Swedes to revisit the customs and traditions of their ancestors on the shortest night of the year. Every aspect of the day has some sort of historic significance,\u00a0from the\u00a0flower-covered Maypole to the\u00a0desire to stay outdoors.<\/em>

\nThough it’s celebrated in various locales around the world, a Swedish Midsommar is truly unlike anything else.\u00a0This year, Sleek is teaming up with Absolut Vodka to show our readers how to celebrate like a real Swede. With Midsommar marking the beginning of summer break for many Swedes,\u00a0the holiday\u00a0is a time for many to enjoy the beautiful weather in the great outdoors. The nation\u00a0is notorious for its abundance of fairytale-like forests and idyllic meadows. That’s why during Midsommar, tradition has residents living in bigger metropolises ditching city life for relaxation in the countryside.
