Mit einem Portfolio, das von i-D bis AnOther, von Balenciaga bis Calvin Klein reicht, ist Weir praktisch ein Begriff (zumindest, wenn man sich in modebewussten Kreisen bewegt). Und obwohl sie eine Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Motive einf\u00e4ngt, sind es doch Gesichter, die Weirs Bildsprache dominieren \u2013 Rihanna, M.I.A., Chloe Sevigny und Adwoah Aboah geh\u00f6ren zu den Gesichtern, die in Weirs intimen, lichtdurchfluteten Portr\u00e4ts verewigt sind. Weirs neuestes Projekt \u201cFunction\u201d geht \u00fcber die K\u00f6pfe ihrer Portr\u00e4ts hinaus und erkundet den K\u00f6rper und seine Eigenheiten \u2013 von seiner innewohnenden Sinnlichkeit bis hin zu seinen biologischen Abl\u00e4ufen.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Weirs \u201cFunction\u201d, das f\u00fcr die f\u00fcnfte Ausgabe des Baron-Magazins konzipiert wurde, wird seinem Titel in mehr als einer Hinsicht gerecht. Der kuratierte Band \u2013 der neben Weirs bisher unver\u00f6ffentlichten Fotografien auch Texte und gefundene Bildmaterialien enth\u00e4lt \u2013 hinterfragt die vielf\u00e4ltigen Funktionen des K\u00f6rpers und die Art und Weise, wie diese zum Ausdruck kommen. Im Einklang mit Weirs Besch\u00e4ftigung mit dem Erotischen stellen die Bilder das Biologische und das Soziale einander gegen\u00fcber, indem sie Sexualit\u00e4t im Sinne einer Fortpflanzungsfunktion, eines innewohnenden Verlangens und eines sozialen Ph\u00e4nomens betrachten.<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62278\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sleek-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/unnamed-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1477\" height=\"985\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62276\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sleek-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Spread-Single-Page-Mockup10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1477\" height=\"985\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62274\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sleek-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Harley-Weir-Baron-Magazine-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1477\" height=\"985\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zugegebenerma\u00dfen ist dies nicht Weirs erster Ausflug jenseits der redaktionellen Fotografie. Ihr im vergangenen Jahr bei Loose Joints erschienenes Buch \u201cPaintings\u201d war eine dreij\u00e4hrige Untersuchung von Oberfl\u00e4chen, in der die lebenden Motive, die zuvor ihr Werk gepr\u00e4gt hatten, fehlten, und in der sie die Fotografie als einen Prozess der Unmittelbarkeit erforschte. Doch \u201cFunction\u201d ist noch einmal anders und zeichnet sich nicht durch seinen Stil, sondern durch sein Thema aus. Auf den 152 Seiten dokumentiert Weir eine nat\u00fcrliche Geburt und interpretiert das Bild von Madonna und Kind mit den Models Lily Newmark und Jess Maybury neu. Die stets umstrittene weibliche Brustwarze (die offenbar <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">immer noch<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ist nicht kostenlos) wird erneut als Ort sowohl der F\u00fcrsorge als auch der<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provokation, w\u00e4hrend die Vorstellung davon, was es bedeutet, \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201dsexy\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> wird anhand von Stillleben thematisiert, die die Kommerzialisierung des K\u00f6rpers hinterfragen.
