Die von Dirk Snauwaert kuratierte Ausstellung \u201cFlagrant Delight\u201d, die im Culturgest in Lissabon zu sehen ist, bietet einen Einblick in das facettenreiche Werk von Rosemarie Trockel \u2013 aber man wage es ja nicht, sie als Retrospektive zu bezeichnen! Anfang der 1980er Jahre schlug Trockel eine Alternative zum starren Formalismus und zur expressiven Malerei vor, die damals das k\u00fcnstlerische Umfeld dominierten. Auch heute noch basieren die Grundprinzipien ihrer Praxis auf den Begriffen der Freiheit und der \u00dcberwindung der Grenzen des Akademismus, konventioneller Assoziationen und des Sprachverst\u00e4ndnisses sowie avantgardistischer Formen und Symbole. Und dies erstreckt sich auch auf die Ablehnung des Konzepts einer Retrospektive \u2013 ein R\u00fcckzug, der ganz im Einklang mit ihrem Anspruch steht, dass sie schon immer mehr \u201cInteresse an inneren Widerspr\u00fcchen und Inkoh\u00e4renz\u201d gehabt habe.<\/p>\n

Die Idee einer allumfassenden Retrospektive steht in der Tat im Widerspruch zu Trockels Vorliebe f\u00fcr \u201cUnvollst\u00e4ndigkeit\u201d, \u201cUndurchsichtigkeit\u201d sowie eine offene und unsystematische \u00e4sthetische Sprache und Praxis. Ihre metaphorische und assoziative Arbeitsweise bildet die Grundlage f\u00fcr die poetische Bildsprache, f\u00fcr die sie selbst eintritt.
Die Ausstellung findet zeitgleich mit einer weiteren Ausstellung der deutschen K\u00fcnstlerin im New Museum in New York statt. Unter dem Titel \u201cRosemarie Trockel: A Cosmos\u201d pr\u00e4sentiert die New Yorker Ausstellung ein imagin\u00e4res Universum, in dem Trockels eigene Kunstwerke aus den letzten drei\u00dfig Jahren Objekten und Artefakten aus verschiedenen Epochen und Kulturen gegen\u00fcbergestellt werden, die viele ihrer k\u00fcnstlerischen Interessen widerspiegeln.<\/p>\n

Trockels feministischer Ansatz zielt darauf ab, die Vorstellung von einer transparenten, rationalen und nahtlosen Realit\u00e4t zu untergraben, der sie Undurchsichtigkeit, Ineffizienz, Fehler, Unordnung, Desorganisation, Unklarheit und Komplexit\u00e4t entgegenstellt \u2013 ein Aspekt, den beide Ausstellungen hervorheben. Trockel hat \u201cFlagrant Delight\u201d nach Medien gegliedert: Skulpturen, Collagen, Keramik und Textilien (Wollbilder). Dieser scheinbar kategorische Ansatz wird jedoch zu einer vielf\u00e4ltigen und freien Bestandsaufnahme der M\u00f6glichkeiten und Grenzen der einzelnen Medien; tats\u00e4chlich wird selbst der geringste Anflug einer Kategorisierung auf Schritt und Tritt vereitelt.<\/p>\n

Die Ausstellungen sind ein Bindeglied, eine Geste, die auf die m\u00f6gliche Entstehung neuer Beziehungen hindeutet. Und genau so, in \u00e4hnlicher Weise, kann und sollte auch diese Retrospektive interpretiert werden.<\/p>\n

\u201cFlagrant Delight\u201d wird in Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem WIELS Contemporary Art Centre in Br\u00fcssel, Culturgest in Lissabon und dem Museion in Bozen veranstaltet.
