Und inwieweit beeinflusst das Leben in einer Metropole der Kunstszene die Art der Kunst, die man schafft? Diese und weitere Fragen geh\u00f6ren zu den Themen, mit denen sich die aktuelle Ausstellung \u201cNew. New York\u201d im Essl Museum befasst, die anl\u00e4sslich der <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sleek-mag.com\/de\/special-features\/2012\/11\/vienna-city-of-art\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wiener Kunstwoche<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Die Ausstellung bietet Einblicke in das Schaffen von 19 jungen, in New York ans\u00e4ssigen K\u00fcnstlern, die sich alle in sehr unterschiedlichen Phasen ihrer Karriere befinden, und legt dabei einen besonderen Schwerpunkt auf die lebendige junge Kunstszene aus Bushwick, Brooklyn, mit ihren zahlreichen Ateliers, Kulturinitiativen und alternativen Kunstr\u00e4umen, die das Stadtbild pr\u00e4gen. Kurator John Silvis nennt die \u201cEhrlichkeit und Direktheit\u201d der gezeigten Werke als verbindendes Merkmal. Sie zeichnen sich zudem \u2013 wenn auch mit unterschiedlichen Techniken \u2013 durch eine gewisse Material\u00f6konomie aus, da viele von ihnen gefundene Materialien und Medien in oft \u00fcberraschender Form verwenden und wiederverwenden und auf diese Weise \u201cetwas Neues\u201d schaffen, um ihre eigenen Formen des k\u00fcnstlerischen Ausdrucks zu entwickeln.<\/p>\n<p class=\"size--small\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6793\" title=\"BRENT DICKINSON \u201eSystematische Theologie auf dem Forked River Mountain\u201c, 2012. Brent Everett Dickinson verbindet Sprache und Theologie mit Fundst\u00fccken, um in seinen skulpturalen Installationen Psalmen, biblische Bez\u00fcge und \u00dcberlegungen zur Darstellung komplexer metaphysischer und religi\u00f6ser Ideen in der Popul\u00e4rkultur \u2013 von Kinderreimen bis hin zur Schulbildung \u2013 einflie\u00dfen zu lassen. Sarah Lee, die j\u00fcngste K\u00fcnstlerin der Ausstellung, arbeitet mit ausrangierten B\u00fcchern und altem Papier als Medium, um ortsspezifische Werke zu schaffen. Es ist wahrscheinlich das g\u00fcnstigste Material, das einer jungen K\u00fcnstlerin zur Verf\u00fcgung steht \u2013 eine \u00dcberlegung, die f\u00fcr dieses und viele der anderen ausgestellten Werke von zentraler Bedeutung ist.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Und dies k\u00f6nnte der wichtigste Bezugspunkt sein, wenn man versucht, all die verschiedenen K\u00fcnstler, die im Rahmen dieser Ausstellung zu sehen sind, zu betrachten: Einfallsreichtum ist eine Notwendigkeit, und er f\u00fchrt zu Innovationskraft \u2013 sowohl im Hinblick auf den technischen Umgang mit Materialien als auch bei der Entwicklung einer k\u00fcnstlerischen Position. Und dies, so scheint die Ausstellung zu argumentieren, ist eine Situation, die durch die finanziellen Schwierigkeiten gepr\u00e4gt ist, mit denen K\u00fcnstler in New York konfrontiert sind.<\/p>\n<p>Neu.
