\u201cWhy should I make clothes just for a specific gender?\u201d wonders British-Indonesian designer <\/span>Jacqueline Loekito<\/span><\/a>. \u201cThe creating process is way more fun when you know the design could fit for anyone!\u201d This remark, playful yet rebellious, neatly encapsulates Loekito\u2019s style.\u00a0 All designed in varying shades of pink, from palest floss to rose, candy to magenta\u2014\u201cof course pink can be punk!\u201d Loekito exclaims\u2014the London-based designer\u2019s gender non-conforming AW19 collection makes for a striking statement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is not often that clothing exudes a sense of love, but Loekito\u2019s creations pulsate with sensitivity and care. \u201cLarger than life\u201d seems to be a recurring theme throughout Loekito\u2019s work, as the designer continues to defy conventional tailoring and proportions. From a bright pink jumper, hand-knitted with enormously chunky stitches, to an oversized \u201cfuck cancer\u201d sweatshirt which dangles just above your ankles, Loekito revels in excess.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI wish that people had a bigger perception on what they can wear,\u201d muses Loekito on the avant garde nature of her designs. For the designer, what matters most, is personality. \u201cAny individual that wears my pieces excites me very much, especially when they wear it with a lot of sassiness!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
