It\u2019s likely that at some point in your life, you\u2019ve come across the aphorism that the eye serves as a window to the soul. In a world where our body language and words have developed the ability to socially veil our true intentions, the eye behaves as a blind spot to the human reflex of reticence.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Given this premise, we could hypothesise that humans would possess a greater mutual understanding of each other, had we naturally developed with more than two eyes. Whilst I am in no way suggesting that <\/span>Ben Westbeech<\/span><\/a>, who operates under his better-known moniker, <\/span>Breach<\/span><\/a>, advocates for this potentially absurd suggestion, the surreal cover art for his <\/span>latest EP<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Sun Salutations<\/span><\/i> certainly doesn\u2019t rule out the option entirely.<\/span><\/p>\n

Released via <\/span>Andre\u0301 Hommen\u2019s<\/span><\/a> label <\/span>These Eyes<\/span><\/a>, which incidentally has all it\u2019s artists adopt a similar eye-driven profile image for their cover art, Westbeech\u2019s latest efforts channel supernal energy into a two-pronged soundtrack that carries an overarching aura of hope.<\/span><\/p>\n

The title track of the project, \u2018Sun Salutations\u2019, gradually lathers synths over kick-hats that glide into a captivating breakdown before leading the listener into the close of the track marrying fluffy chord progressions with a faithful bassline. The EP\u2019s B-Side titled \u2018Horizons\u2019 features <\/span>Cinnaman<\/span><\/a>, and opts for a slightly softer approach than its Side-A counterpart. Progressive synths remain a mainstay of Westbeech\u2019s sonic impetus, but at a gentler rise.<\/span><\/p>\n

For many, winter in lockdown has proven to be relentlessly unforgiving. However, as daylight hours begin to extend, vaccines continue to be rolled out and the residual stress of the last year slowly slides away, Westbeech\u2019s <\/span>Sun Salutations<\/span><\/i> EP acts as a welcome call to empty dancefloors everywhere, letting them know that it won\u2019t be too long before we\u2019re back.<\/span><\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"text_area","text_area":"
