Feeling blue this winter? Why not immerse yourself in the embrace of Tekla’s soft organic cotton touch? Combining functionality with tranquillity, Tekla is transforming design within the domestic realm through their timeless and ethically considered pieces.
The Danish lifestyle brand, established in 2017 by Charlie Hedin, believes in creating “a selection of products that compliment any home with a desire for functional and linear living.” From sleepwear to kitchen cloths to linen bedspreads, Tekla is truly the ultimate destination for all the essential lifestyle needs. Drawing upon architectural references, functionality is at the heart of each Tekla design in order to have a meaningful impact on their consumers to whom they are completely transparent. Tekla recognises their place within the design industry, taking responsibility to make a positive contribution to Tekla’s consumers and beyond. From tracing back their primary fabrics (such as organic cotton, pure wool and merino wool) to their origins, to working with Global Organic Textile Standardised suppliers, Tekla are actively working to reduce their impact on the environment.

This consideration doesn’t go unnoticed. From the first step into the beautiful world of Tekla, it becomes so apparent just how much the brand is concerned with the wellbeing of both the planet and its consumers. Wellbeing has been a continual and central theme throughout Tekla collections, most notably in their Sleep Collections. Its most recent Sleep Collection, all unisex of course, sees stripes and pastels across each of the six designs that make up the collection; short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, pants, shorts and nightshirts. Woven in 100% organic cotton, Tekla considers the fundamental importance of sleep and rest, something that is perhaps forgotten, and quite frankly discouraged, within the trappings of “hustle culture”. Tekla recognises the “‘little rhythms’ in our life, that can change the way we perceive our surroundings,” and wanted the sleepwear pieces to “feel personal, extremely comfortable and yet refined.” This is certainly an element that sets Tekla apart from the rest.

Tekla’s contribution to wellbeing doesn’t end there, and it continues to motivate them elsewhere within the brand and beyond. Tekla’s Journal is home to an array of photo series, articles and interviews, elevating both the visual identity of the brand and their ethos. Perhaps the most interesting and truly unique contribution to the Journal is Tekla’s Playlists, specifically Tekla Playlist 14, which was created to coincide with the release of their Sleep Collection. Curated by Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li, the Tekla Playlist 14 offers its audience a beautiful selection of dreamy lullabies and melodies from the likes of Brian Eno, Bon Iver and Nils Frahm, serving as a nighttime soundtrack – with wellness as its core.
