Berliners who visited Nike’s recent FlyKnit Experience at Station Kreuzberg probably know that running has come a long way from its perception as a sweaty, solitary, bloke-y discipline, and become something rather more colourful, communal and sensory: something, in fact, that’s not far from a club-like experience (certainly, the preponderance of day-glo in running apparel suggest so, as did the disco-style interior of the Flyknit extravaganza).
Later in May in Berlin, comes another Nike event that promises to be similarly buzzy and no less energetic. Nike’s We Own The Night 10k run is, as the name suggest, as nocturnal event aimed at the growing number of female runners in the German capital (and not only here in Berlin: similar events are being held in other cities, including London on May 18). Whether you are a dedicated 10k-er or a rookie, the event promises to be an experience all of its own, and to top it all there’s a big party planned for afterwards.
The event, powered by Nike+, runs May 24 at Strandbad Plötzensee and costs €20 to enter, which includes a Nike We Own The Night T-shirt. For more information go to nike.com/weownthenightberlin
