Hybridizing disciplines such as urban design, music, and art, Topotek1 looks at the public space and the array of possibilities it presents. For their installation project Inflatables, they created inflatable objects made of foam and rubber. All in two playful shades of pink, Topotek1 uses this installation to question notions of time and space. In their process, it is important for them to consider the cultural and historical context of each site and to create spaces that respond to their surroundings. They believe that landscape architecture has the potential to be a form of art, and they are always interested in exploring the relationship between these fields. The contrast between nature and the cheerful structures breathes life into any space that the Inflatables occupy, highlighting the way in which Topotek1 approaches design.
The Inflatables installation defies conventional expectations by instantly altering its appearance upon inflation, offering a tactile, visual, and sensory experience that transcends different places and contexts. The multiple-coded and ambivalent objects captivate attention and curiosity, inviting people to actively interact and play with them. Their flirtatious character and surprising presence entice individuals into a fully engaged uncommon action, fostering playfulness, laughter, and communication.

Inflatables goes beyond the traditional boundaries of architectural design, immersing individuals in an environment that challenges expectations and encourages active participation. The ever-changing nature of the installation sparks curiosity and draws people into an unconventional realm of exploration and interaction. As the inflatable objects morph and adapt to their surroundings, they provoke a sense of wonder and provide a platform for spontaneous engagement and joyful experiences
The project exemplifies their innovative and boundary-pushing approach to architecture. By defying the fixed nature of landscapes and introducing transformative and interactive installations, they have reimagined the possibilities of space and engagement. Inflatables serves as a testament to the power of objects to shape and redefine our physical environments, fostering playfulness, laughter, and communication. Through their inventive use of inflatable structures, Topotek1 Architects invite us to see architecture as a dynamic and engaging medium that continually surprises and delight us.

Another venture, Superkilen, is an urban development project in Copenhagen, where a park was created to meet the diverse needs of the area. The design for this project focuses on combining the many cultural identities of an area to express a heterogeneous society. Using 108 objects, and 11 varieties of trees from all over the world, Topotek1 made the park a space representative of the neighborhood residents. Using different colors to mark the different spacial sections, Superkilen is visually delightful. The Red Square represents an activity zone, the Black Market serves as a meeting point, and the Green Park offers leisure space. These divisions allow for a variety of experiences and activities, catering to the diverse needs and interests of the residents.

The curated collection of objects and icons in Superkilen serves as a powerful representation of the many cultural identities found in Nørrebro. The intentional arrangement of these diverse elements not only showcases the immigrants’ contrasting backgrounds but also celebrates their rich tapestry of heritage and experiences. The project becomes a visual expression of a heterogeneous society, embracing a sense of otherness and hybridity in the heart of the Danish capital. Superkilen has become a public space with a strong identity, drawing on its multicultural surroundings. It invites residents and visitors alike to engage with the unique blend of objects and to celebrate the richness that cultural diversity brings. Through this inclusive design, Topotek1 has successfully created an environment where different communities can coexist and interact, fostering a sense of unity, understanding, and mutual respect.
