Musician AVAION started playing the piano, guitar, and organ at a young age, but today he concentrates on deep house, EDM, and pop music. The producer, songwriter, and singer grew up in the south of Germany, where he connected to music early in life. Both his father and grandfather were musicians, which is why he decided to not only follow in their footsteps but to create a new style just for himself. He signed with Sony Music where he went on to make an even bigger name for himself which is why his debut album Selfreflection will be out in April 2024. To get to know him better, SLEEK had the opportunity to ask him 5 quick questions.

SLEEK: When and how did you get into music?
AVAION: I realised at a young age that I had a different relationship to music than other children around me. My whole family has a connection to music, and I think that has just been passed on to me. I fell in love with electronic sounds early on and started composing music and creating songs, first with instruments and then later digitally.
S: Who is your biggest inspiration?
A: In terms of music, I’ve had a lot of different sources of inspiration over the years. Starting with Paul Kalkbrenner, Tchami, or Elderbrook. Someone who inspires me beyond music is Fred Again. It’s great to see that people have more and more love for this kind of music.

S: What are your goals as a musician?
A: I think my biggest goal is just to reach as many people as pos- sible with my music and give them that special feeling that I have for music. I want people to connect their own personal experiences with my music and write their own story with my songs.
S: What do you love most about being a musician?
A: I love it when people write to me saying that my music has helped them get through a difficult time or that they connect it with a person or a moment they love. I want my music to live; that’s the best feeling. I also love meeting so many new people and having the chance to see so many exciting things.

S: What has been the highlight of your career so far?
A: I think out of all the breathtaking experiences, the best one was the moment I came home to my mother with my platinum and gold records, and she cried in front of me because she was so proud. That really motivated me to do even more. There was also a gig in my home country where my parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all showed up. I will never forget the way they looked at me when I was on stage. My parents are divorced and haven’t had any real contact in almost 20 years. We were all there as a family that day, and I’ll never forget that.
