Los Angeles, a place famous for turning dreams into realities, the home of the iconic Chateau Marmont and for its clouds that hold no rain. LA is not only a prominent place for artists but also designers like Marcell von Berlin, who showed his upcoming spring/summer 2022 collection there. The golden sunshine, a theme apparent in the show’s set design, marks a new era for the Berlin-based fashion designer.

The label of the namesake designer was relaunched in 2018 and has since then opened flagship stores in Berlin and Los Angeles. His new collection, which just saw the light of day under LA’s palm trees, is a celebration of bold shapes, female empowerment, and self-expression. According to the designer, the collection is a homage to the 80s, a decade of power dressing, rebelling against the status quo, and powerful women who used style as their means of empowerment and expression.

This collection is a worship of the saying “more is more” with countless pop-punk references, especially in the collection’s denim and leather pieces. Juxtaposed with a pastel bright color palette, von Berlin is inviting us into his new creative universe. 45 looks entail the collection, using orange as its ultimate power color, combined with suits, patterns, and a diverse range of models on the runway. The designer brings some of his old favorites back, such as the high-rise boyfriend jeans or the high-rise wide-leg trouser.

This collection is loud, glamorous and most importantly, after months of staying in, demands to be worn.
