Last weekend, on the longest day of the year, Absolut Vodka hosted the ultimate Midsommar Weekender event in its hometown of Ahus, Sweden. Guests from all over the world were invited to take part in the event’s traditions and festivities as they learned how to celebrate the longest day of the year like a real Swede. Situated deep in the countryside and surrounded by the nation’s picturesque forests, partygoers celebrated underneath dusky skies while Absolut provided all the necessities required for celebrating a traditional Swedish Midsommar – including plenty of refreshing cocktails crafted with the tasty spirit.
Traditional Midsommar activities were given a contemporary update, with a beauty tent providing more than enough glitter to go around, a flower crown station for building the perfect floral headpiece and an Absolut Drink Lab offering cocktail lessons. Tarot card readings served as a nod towards the event’s pagan roots, and of course the drinks were flowing at all hours from the bar. Even a bit of rain couldn’t stop the party, as everyone gathered under the various tents and continued celebrating as if nothing had happened.
The rain eventually made way for the sun, giving everyone enough time to slip into their all-white outfits and enjoy a traditional Swedish Midsommar lunch. The positive energy was palpable and as day turned to night, the party continued in CLUBLAND, a dreamy space filled with neon lights, seductive beats and smoke machines. The night peaked when American rapper Zebra Katz took over the stage and delivered a hyped-up performance that included bathing the audience in champagne and making everyone chant “first name Zebra, last name Katz” until Midsommar’s end. After celebrating our first Absolut Midsommar, we’re already excited to see what next year’s event has to offer.
