Alessandro Michele has developed an ongoing love affair with the art world since becoming the creative director of Gucci in 2015. Now he’s joined forces with Petra Collins for an exhibition at Art Basel Hong Kong curated by Dan Thawley, Editor-In-Chief of A Magazine. The show takes inspiration from Alessandro Michele’s guest-edited issue of A Magazine with the theme “blind for love.”
Michele grew up in Rome with an avid appreciation for the visual due to his mother’s love of cinema and his father’s interest in sculpture. As a teenager he was fascinated by the vibrant youth culture of post-punk Europe and street style, both of which are evident in his designs for Gucci. The creative director has previously staged two art exhibitions in Shanghai and Tokyo in 2015 and 2016 entitled ‘No Longer/Not Yet’ and ‘Gucci 4 Rooms.’
“A MAGAZINE curated by ALESSANDRO MICHELE featuring PETRA COLLINS” opens at Hong Kong’s Qube at PMQ today and runs until 26 March 2017. The exhibition will be moving to Beijing and Taipei in the coming weeks. Take a peek at the images from the exhibition we’ve selected from IG.
