Berlin eyewear brand, PAWAKA takes us on a sensory journey of poetry and dance in “Alpa Camasca” film

Ibiza is one of those places that are synonymous with summer. While it is known for wild partying and electronic music, it is also a place of incredible nature and mindful retreats. Up in the canyons of the Spanish island, creative director Fa’Empel and the cinematography and music team of Duende fuse these two identities in an otherworldly video experience of heightened senses in the campaign video for the biodegradable frames German eyewear brand Pawaka.

“The Incan term for ‘human body’ was alpa camasca, which can be literally translated as ‘animated earth’,” Fa’Empel explains. “This non-Western reference invites us to rethink our place in the world by emphasising our connectedness to Earth. The human body is made-up of the same atoms and matter as the world around us; and as thinking beings we have the responsibility to nurture this.”

The iridescent and earthy clip featuring the choreography of Berlin dancer M.J. Harper. Harper’s movements in the film mirror those of the coloured corn starch, which dances in eerily lifelike movements on top of a speaker to the beat that are being pumped through as Harper speaks through the poem, Sentient Bodies by Katerine Niedinger.
