Greek artist Angela Liosi investigates situations of transition and transgression. Not only physical passages are scrutinized in her work, but also metaphysical ones, like shifts in space and time, states of consciousness and vestibules to the hereafter. Not lacking in irony, her miniature sculpture series “9 scenes of ordinary murders” shows odd scenarios of violent deaths made from pristine white materials used for architectural models. These frozen moments play on the viewer’s voyeuristic impulse and satisfy it with a cocktail of sadism, morbid fantasies and socially suppressed aggressions.
