After several months of lockdown, Giorgio Armani was finally able to re-open the Armani/Silos exhibition space this month, with an exhibition dedicated to the late German photographer Peter Lindbergh. Titled Heimat: A Sense of Belonging—extended until 10 January 2021—the exhibition, which was personally curated by Armani, highlights Lindbergh’s timeless aesthetic through a broad range of images, spanning his entire career. With a mix of well-known and lesser-known aspects of Lindberg’s oeuvre brought to the fore, Heimat, which means ‘homeland’ in English, unfolds across three sections—The Naked Truth, Heimat and The Modern Heroine. Through an array of elegant portraits, the exhibition goes beyond the idea of fashion photography and emphasises Lindberg’s unique understanding of femininity and his cinematic approach to image-making. Meanwhile, on the upper floors, the permanent collection traces Giorgio Armani’s creative work from 1980 to the present day.
